My new favorite thing

UPDATE: The first night went GREAT! We both got a good night sleep and it was a delight to wake up knowing that nobody had to think about a dialysis treatment until late tonight!

We got a brand new toy today--a dialysis cycler! Isn't that exciting?! No--it's not a guy on dialysis who will cycle on command. But it is a nifty little contraption that will take away all of the daytime treatments Eric has to do (4 times a day, 40 minutes each time). Yee-haw! It will mean that the kids and I won't have to load up at noon and go to Eric's work to help with a treatment. And it will mean that Eric has more time at night to cuddle the kiddlets!

So the way it works is that this great little toy hooks up to Eric's catheter at night and delivers all of the dialysis treatment over a period of 8 hours. So from 10:30pm to 6:30am he has the perfect excuse that we all dream of to get a good 8 hour sleep! =-)

The down side is that Eric will have to sleep connected to a tube every night (not exactly desirable) and that we'll have to deal with middle of the night alarms. But hey! So much more freedom during the day!!

Anita,
I hope and pray that this will be much more of a relief for Eric and yourself. The stress is enough to have to deal with and this will just take one more thingo ff your plate!! Good Luck and praying for your family. g

Hi Anita, Beth here, have really appreciated reading your candid blog and all the fabulous pictures of your children...they are darlings! Also enjoyed your entry regarding the 'fire', we all need reminding of this often and the fact that God's intent is never evil but 'good plans to prosper us and give us a hope and future'. Bless you heaps.
