Lifting Them Up

Tonight Eric tucked all of the kids in bed. When he went to tuck Taevy (7) into bed she was on the floor. He scooped her off of the floor and into his arms, taking a moment to hold her before placing her in her bed. Eric was just doing what daddy's do.

For that moment he forgot about his weight limit (20 pounds) and was just a normal daddy. He hadn't even realized he had "broken" his "no lifting the kids" rule until Taevy said, "Daddy!" with big tears in her eyes and a huge smile on her face. "Daddy! You picked me up! Your broke your rule for me!"

Eric said it was so sweet he almost started bawling before he could get out of the room. Such a simple thing. Taevy being picked up by her daddy. But oh how she misses it. She so misses it. The Lord knows that and I think He arranged a special gift for Taevy tonight.

The kids are so good about Eric's health stuff that sometimes we forget about the little things they go without now (like rough and tumble play, and being carried by Eric). Those aren't little things when your 6 or 7 years old. Eric and I decided tonight that he might have to "forget" about his lifting limit once or so a week for the big kids. Big kids still need daddy to lift them up.
