I'd Rather have a cold...

So can you tell I'm a total wimp when I'm sick? Boo hoo! Pity me! LOL! Oh my GOODNESS I feel sorry for people that are prone to sore throats. I am not. I actually don't remember another time when I've had strep throat, but this stinks! I mean really...do we NEED a uvula? I'm ready to chop the stupid thing off!

I actually did have my uvula removed. There was a polyp on it, and it looked like my uvula was cloning itself! So I went to the doctor and he lasered it off. Actually, I had read that reducing the size of the uvula helped with snoring, so I basically had him remove almost the whole thing. I don't think it helped the snoring, and the trade-off is that now sometimes I get strangled if I'm not careful how I drink liquids -- now it takes a fraction of a second longer to close my throat when I swallow, and sometimes the liquid gets down my windpipe before that happens.

So, it's not perfectly wonderful, either with too much or too little uvula. Funny how such a little thing can cause so much commotion, isn't it?

Oh my goodness! I never thought I'd hear of a person who actually did it! Well...that doesn't sound so hot either, although I might be willing to trade out for a few days at this point! ;-)

I had strep throat last year and thought I was going to die! Seriously, I started crying in the middle of the night, and told my dh that I couldn't take another minute of the pain. He knew I meant business, b/c I delivered our three bio kids w/o meds ... so that says something about strep, doesn't it?

Actually, in Ethiopia the uvula is still often removed. My ET daughter was missing hers when she arrived in America. She hasn't had any problem w/o it.
